Stewardship

Taking responsibility for our products – from the production of seeds to the safe use, storage and disposal of crop protection products by growers – is a priority at Syngenta and helps to build strong relationships with our customers and other stakeholders.

Human safety and environmental impacts are key considerations in our research and development. All our products undergo extensive trials to receive regulatory approval. See safety in research and development.

Syngenta has employees living and working in rural communities around the world who are dedicated to helping farmers use our products safely and effectively. We train more than two million growers to use our products safely and effectively every year, and dispose of them in a way that minimises risk to human health or the environment. See safe use.

Once our products are in farmers’ hands, they must be properly stored to prevent misuse by farmers and their families – either accidental or intentional. Promoting secure storage is an important part of our stewardship activities.

Our dedicated website provides open access to information on a range of stewardship issues including safe use and conservation agriculture techniques.
